Where cycle time is lost

In many washer cycles, total duration is largely driven by heating and drying phases. Conventional systems rely on electrical heaters or steam coils in the sump, which require time to transfer energy into the water before the required temperature is reached. The same applies to drying, where parts must first accumulate sufficient thermal energy before moisture can evaporate efficiently.
Long heat-up and drying times directly limit throughput, especially in high-demand production environments.

One principle, two applications

SteelcoBelimed uses injection of Pure Steam to reduce the heating and drying step, with two approaches that can be used independently or combined within the same recipe, depending on load requirements.

Steam injection heating

Pure Steam is injected during wash or rinse phases to heat process water faster. Energy is transferred directly into the water by condensation, reducing heat-up time at each relevant step of the cycle.

Combined steam - air drying

Pure Steam is injected into the hydraulic circuit after the final rinse step to increase the thermal energy transferred to the chamber and the load. With the parts at a higher temperature, residual droplets evaporate faster during the subsequent hot air drying phase.

Faster cycles with GMP compatibility

Because pure steam is used, the solution remains fully compatible with pharmaceutical GMP requirements. Steam acts as a rapid heat transfer medium within the water circuit, without transforming the washer into a pressure vessel.
Shorter heating and drying phases translate into faster overall cycles and higher throughput. Reduced step duration can also contribute to lower water consumption. Recipes can be adapted to the specific load, avoiding unnecessarily long heat-up or drying times.

This is a simple enhancement with significant impact, particularly suited to facilities where pure steam is already available in the washer area.
